Apple has unveiled Home Collection, a coordinated line of connected-home products developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. It includes indoor and outdoor cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, thermostats and room sensors. Products start arriving in December 2026.
From compatibility to a complete system
Apple Home has long controlled third-party accessories. Now Apple has helped design the hardware itself, with one-tap iPhone setup, unified controls in the Home app and no separate manufacturer account.
LG’s smart lock supports hands-free unlocking with compatible Apple devices, plus a PIN and backup key. Its cameras offer up to 2.5K video. Thermostats from LG and Schneider can respond to occupancy and read temperature and humidity from room sensors.
The lock, thermostats and sensors support Matter, the cross-brand smart-home standard. Apple says the new accessories also use Thread networking and encrypted Home data.
The design question is whether a coordinated system is simpler to install, maintain and live with than a collection of compatible products. Home Collection brings cameras, entry and climate into one ecosystem, with the new HomeView as a shared interface. Real-world reliability and installation performance remain untested until the products ship.
