Zero-Detergent Laundry

Swap conventional detergent for ozone + hot water. A dedicated ozone generator injects O₃ into the wash cycle, breaking down organic residue without fragrance, dyes, or surfactants. Clothes come out clean, your skin stops reacting to whatever was leaching out of the old detergent, and the wash water is safe enough to water plants with.

Method

1Install a residential ozone generator plumbed directly into the cold-water inlet of the washer (Simply O3, Oxy Revolution, or similar)
2Use a top-loader if possible — higher water volume gives the ozone time to work. Speed Queen TR7 is the workhorse choice.
3Run all normal loads with zero detergent. Ozone handles dirt, sweat, and odor.
4For heavily soiled loads (post-training, post-sauna): add 1/4 cup baking soda. That's it.
5For whites or stains: presoak with hydrogen peroxide. Skip bleach entirely.
6Clean the machine itself monthly with a hot water + vinegar cycle — no residue to manage

Outcome

Zero fragrance residue on sheets, towels, or training gear. Skin reactions from conventional detergents (eczema, mild itching) typically clear within 2–3 weeks. Wash water is gray-water safe — can be diverted to irrigation with no treatment.
