A polymer-modified cementitious coating applied in millimeters over existing substrates — floors, walls, even tile — to create seamless, monolithic surfaces. Performance depends almost entirely on the system, the sealer, and the installer.
Why it matters
Microcement is everywhere in modern renovation because it delivers the seamless concrete look without demolition. But it is a system, not a material: the same word covers excellent engineered products and cheap bagged mixes, and the sealer — usually polyurethane — is what you actually live on. Understanding that hierarchy is the whole game.

- Sealer emissions vary — specify low-VOC, certified systems

Finish, binder, sourcing, and installation conditions to confirm before specifying.
- The specific system brand and its technical documentation — not "microcement" generically
- Sealer type, VOC certification, and re-coat schedule
- Installer certification with that exact system
- Substrate crack-isolation and waterproofing details in wet areas
