KLAFS
Architectural sauna and spa systems for residences, hotels, and wellness spaces, including retractable and multi-climate rooms.
What they're known for
A high-design sauna company treating the cabin as transformable architecture, not simply a cedar box around a heater.
KLAFS designs residential and commercial sauna, steam, and wellness systems with a strong emphasis on spatial integration and custom interiors. Its S1 sauna uses a motorized telescoping structure that expands from furniture-depth storage into a full sauna in about 20 seconds, allowing heat therapy to fit into bathrooms and smaller rooms that could not support a permanent cabin. Other systems combine multiple heat and humidity modes, placing KLAFS in the architectural end of the sauna market rather than the direct-ship kit category.

S11
KLAFS' design-forward indoor sauna, created with Design Studio F. A. Porsche and winner of a 2024 Red Dot Design Award. Japanese-inspired interior with floating benches, finely dimensioned wooden slats, and a luminous Washi paper wall, plus choreographed light-and-sound ceremonies that turn a session into a multisensory ritual. Freestanding FERO heater with Finnish olivine stones, touchscreen control, and a choice of freestanding or built-in installation. UL certified.
S1
The world's first and only expandable sauna: at the press of a button the S1 extends from a retracted depth of just 24 inches to a full 63-inch cabin in about 40 seconds, then collapses to wardrobe depth when you're done — the answer to the apartment problem. SANARIUM climate system runs five distinct heat-and-humidity modes from a dry Finnish sauna to tropical steam, with the VARIUS heater hidden under the bench, app and touchscreen control, Bluetooth speakers, and dimmable backrest lighting. Available in three sizes; winner of the Red Dot, iF, and German Design awards. Arrives Summer 2026.
