Ethimo
Italian outdoor design — now including the gym.
What they're known for
The Mediterranean outdoor-furniture house that turned the home gym into garden architecture: teak and rust-finish steel, no motors, no screens.
Ethimo is an Italian outdoor-living house, founded in 2009 by the Confidati family and headquartered inside the Moutan Botanical Centre in Vitorchiano, north of Rome. The name means "origin," and the work reads that way — aged teak, rust-finish metal, and a Mediterranean restraint built to live outside, in the private gardens, country hotels, and resorts across more than 40 countries where the brand has become shorthand for Italian outdoor design.
OUT-FIT, designed with Studio Adolini, is the brand's argument that a gym can be architecture instead of equipment. A 250 cm teak-and-steel cube fitted with a punchbag, leather bench, wooden rings, wall ladder, and mat — no motors, no cables, no screens — it is meant to sit on a terrace or beside a pool and settle into the landscape rather than dominate a room. It is the rare piece of training equipment specified by interior designers rather than strength coaches.
