Pentair
The equipment behind the pool and the whole-home water system.
What they're known for
Pumps, filters, heaters, and automation — the infrastructure layer of pools and residential water, since 1966.
Pentair started in 1966 in suburban Minnesota — the name is penta, for five founders, plus air, from an early plan to build high-altitude balloons — and spent decades acquiring its way into becoming a pure-play water company. Today it is the infrastructure brand of the backyard pool and the utility room: variable-speed pumps, filters, heaters, sanitization, and the automation that ties them together.
The IntelliFlo variable-speed pump is the consequential product, cutting pool energy use sharply and becoming a near-default upgrade. Pentair is less a luxury name than the competent, ubiquitous engineering layer — the equipment a serious pool or whole-home water setup quietly runs on.
