What they're known for

34-TEN's Lantern House accommodates a home recording studio, sauna, cinema, gym and office inside an adapted 1890s Chicago two-flat.

Founded in Chicago in 2015 by Josh Hutchison, 34-TEN Architecture designs residential renovations, deconversions, new homes and adaptive-reuse projects. Its Lantern House transforms an 1890s two-flat into a 4,000-square-foot live-work residence with a recording studio, theater, gym, sauna, office and rooftop terraces. The project uses a new lightwell, concealed rooms, custom millwork, integrated sound and programmed lighting; AIA Chicago named it a 2026 People's Choice Awards finalist.
